Wireless earbuds: Sony WF-1000XM6 fit and feature guide
Choose the fit and phone features you will actually use.

Fit comes before the feature list
An earbud can sound appealing on paper and still be the wrong shape for your ears. Think about long listening sessions, calls and movement. Check the retailer’s return conditions before relying on a fit you have not tried.
Know your connection
Sony’s WF-1000XM6 supports a two-device Bluetooth connection and several audio codecs. The codec affects the published battery allowance: Sony lists up to eight hours with ANC using AAC or SBC, and up to five using LDAC. Your settings and use can reduce those figures.
Keep the case dry
The earbuds have an IPX4 splash-resistance rating; the case does not. Sweat and rain require care before charging. Decide whether that suits your routine rather than treating every wireless earbud as an all-weather accessory.
Let wet earbuds dry before charging
After rain or exercise, wipe the earbuds and let them dry fully at room temperature before putting them into the case. Sony warns that charging while wet can corrode the charging contacts. Splash resistance protects a limited use case; it does not make the earbuds or case suitable for immersion.
What stands out
- Two-device connection suits phone-and-laptop use
- Several codecs support different phone ecosystems
- Noise-control and listening settings available in Sony’s app
Where to pause
- LDAC reduces the published ANC battery allowance
- Case must stay dry; IPX4 does not mean swimming protection
Make the decision
Choose around comfort, your phone's codec support and your normal listening settings. The published battery figures change with the codec. If calls and movement are part of your day, include fit, return conditions and keeping the case dry in the decision.
Quick answers
Does every phone use LDAC?
No. The phone must support the codec; check Sony’s compatibility guidance.
Can two devices stay connected?
Yes. Sony documents a two-device Bluetooth multipoint connection.
